Working like a dog

It’s not all fun and games in this economy is it? Even my dog-aughter recently had to take an office job…

In her 3 years as a full-time Housedog, Dixie has enjoyed herself. She kept watch out for day-time intruders, enjoyed leisurely lunches, naps in the sunny window, and, well that pretty much sums up her day. But recently she had started to want to test her skills in the workforce to make sure she wasn’t missing out on anything.

On Friday she got that wish and went to work as my sister’s new assistant. I’m not going to lie, I think she got the job because of her looks. Whatever it takes…

Dixie started the day like most of us, she put her work badge on her collar and headed out the door…

Lauren knew Dixie isn’t a morning girl, so it looks like they must have stopped at Starbucks for a coffee…then rode the elevator to the 4th floor…

Then it was off to see her new career station…

…do some light filing…

…and listen to what her new job duties would entail…

Here’s the thing about Dixie: she has always been a go-getter! She throws herself into whatever needs to be done. So after Lauren got up from her chair, Dixie thought that meant it was her turn to jump right in and start working…

Dixie: “Excuse me, Lauren, can you grab me the customer’s file?”

At the end of the day I think Lauren got jealous that Dixie became the prettiest one in the office and decided she no longer wanted an assistant that got more attention than her. It was okay though, Dixie decided it was too much work for her and interfered with her 9am-1:30pm nap. So, Dixie took the rest of the day off…

She is looking forward to resuming her Housedog duties on Monday.
